Description

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
Doctoral course in Reggio Childhood Studies - from early childhood to lifelong learning.
The course is residential, engaging PhD students full-time as a team together with the teachers and facilities of the Foundation. It prepares qualified scholars concerning research related to space and the environment as an essential element for learning and its syntactic modulation with respect to the cognitive modes of the human beings; neurosciences as hermeneutic disciplines regarding learning and behavior; play and learning in the digital age; meaning making process, hermeneutics and pedagogical documentation; sociology and anthropology; processes and paths for the construction of a learning community; the theory and practice of uniqueness and differences that are built and expressed in social, cultural, anthropological and religious contexts; aesthetic dimensions and material cultures as elements of learning; research on food as a tool and structure for community making.
Through contiguity, immersion and daily presence in the research practice of the Reggio Children Foundation - Loris Malaguzzi Centre, and in line with the educational principles of Reggio Emilia, particular attention will be paid to the transversal historical, sociological and psychological skills that allow the candidates to develop, manage and communicate educational projects.

PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVES
PhDs scholars in Reggio Childhood Studies will be able to become key figures in the design, organization and coordination of educational services. They will also be able to work as pedagogical consultants in the public and private sectors; as scholars, trainers and evaluators in centers and projects for pedagogical and psycho-pedagogical research; or even in management, orientation, support and control bodies activated by the Public Administration and the private sector.
They will be able to find professional opportunities within public and private, national and international bodies that promote socio-constructivist approaches and methods in educational services dedicated to early childhood and subsequent levels of education.
Last but not least, a plausible professional outlet is academic research, at national and international levels, in numerous locations around the world where the educational experience that will shape the scientific physiognomy of doctoral students is the subject of interest and study.
