Geometria combinatoria
General information
Course | Geometria combinatoria | Credits | 6 |
---|---|
Professor | ARRIGO BONISOLI |
Brief content description
The largest part of the course (80%) will be devoted to the study of some basic topics taken from selected chapters of Finite Geometry, such as for instance the so called Galois Geometries (affine and projective spaces over finite fields), block-designs, some aspects of enumerative combinatorics, graph theory, the theory of linear error correcting codes. The fundametal purpose will be that of mastering the most meaningful results within each topic, in particular those which are based on counting techniques and on symmetry arguments (automorphism groups). The remaining part of the course will be devoted to the study of some special topic, so as to give students some suggestion for further work, which may eventually be used for their thesis. Lectures will be delivered in English.
